Room for Learning

Speech Spark and Room for Learning work together to transform education in under resourced communities by equipping Teachers with effective, evidence based strategies. by running workshops for both the Teachers and the students. Speech Spark focuses on improving literacy and numeracy through structured pedagogy and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), while Room for Learning enhances Teacher training by fostering collaboration, innovation, and hands on learning experiences. Together, they create sustainable, scalable education models that empower educators, strengthen student outcomes, and build resilient learning communities across Togo and beyond.

The initiative, since its launch, has reached 2,400 students and helped train Teachers to generate a ripple effect in the educational community. We are on track to reach 24,000 in 2025.

Social and Emotional Learning

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is essential for fostering student resilience, confidence, and overall well-being, particularly in under-resourced schools. Many students in Togo face challenges such as limited support systems, high stress levels, and a lack of emotional development programs. Speech Spark integrates SEL into its approach, equipping educators with strategies to help students manage emotions, build positive relationships, and develop essential life skills. By embedding SEL into everyday teaching, we create supportive learning environments that empower students to thrive academically and personally, preparing them for future success.

Structured Pedagogy

Structured pedagogy is vital for improving literacy and numeracy outcomes, especially in under resourced schools. Many schools in Togo struggle with untrained Teachers, outdated curricula, and large class sizes. Speech Spark addresses this through its cascade training model, where master trainers train local educators, who then pass on their knowledge to other Teachers. This ensures that effective teaching strategies reach multiple schools and communities, creating long-term systemic change.
