Vision Statement

Our Vision is to create a scalable, cost-effective education model that transforms learning experiences for children in underserved communities ensuring every child has the foundational skills to succeed.At the moment we are just in Rural Togo but with plans to expand that to the rest of the country in the next two years and then eventually to all countries in French Speaking Africa, ensuring every child has the foundational skills to succeed.

Our Goals

  • Expand reach to additional schools and regions in Togo, increasing student and teacher participation.

  • Strengthen funding through grants, corporate partnerships, and community support.

  • Enhance impact measurement by refining data collection and evaluation methods.

  • Develop sustainable leadership by strengthening governance and training local facilitators.

  • Expand into all of French Speaking Africa.

  • Komlan Abalo Braly

    FOUNDER

    Motivated by his work as a teacher in his local school, Komlan founded Speech Spark over a decade ago to improve literacy and numeracy in underserved communities. With his years of experience he has developed a scalable, cost-effective model that empowers students and educators. Under his leadership, Speech Spark has gained international recognition, including being a UNESCO-Hamdan Prize winner.

  • Bella Chisholm

    MANAGING DIRECTOR

    Meeting Komlan at the 2024 AFS Youth Assembly and inspired by his work, Bella made the move to Togo and joined the team in 2025. As Managing Director, she leads strategic planning, operations, and partnerships to expand Speech Spark’s impact. With a passion for education and social change, she works to ensure the organisation's long-term success and sustainability.

  • Abiré Katako

    Project Coordinator and Liaison Officer

    As Project Coordinator & Liaison Officer, Abiré Katako ensures the smooth implementation of Speech Spark’s initiatives. She oversees project planning, tracks progress, and collaborates with educators to enhance literacy and numeracy programs. Acting as the key link between Speech Spark, local communities, and partners, Abiré facilitates strong relationships to drive meaningful impact.
